August 17- 18 sees the return of fashion extravaganza Moda Marbella in the beating heart of the city - the Casco Antiguo. And this time, one lucky beauty will be crowned Moda Marbella top model - and propelled into an international fashion career... Louise Cook reports.

Following on from April's first Moda Marbella fashion extravaganza, held recently in the evocative Old Town of Marbella, we can expect bigger and better event this coming August, thanks to dynamic fashion event guru Nicola Bowen of OM Promotions, in collaboration with the City of Marbella.

With fashion shows, live music and fire dancers, organiser Nicola excelled herself with the memorable outdoor fashion fest which brought together tradition and modernity in one memorable spectacle featuring some of the town's leading designers and boutiques.

This festival of fashion and entertainment attracted a large and varied crowd around a long catwalk that stretched out from the old city walls into the stunning church square, complete with bars and rows of seats for the eager audience.

The Old Town proved to be an inspiring location for the fashion extravaganza, with the charming cobble-stoned enclave steeped in history adding a fresh twist to the trends and contemporary style, creating a dynamic mix.

All beautiful girls over the age of 16 with model potential are invited to enter the Moda Marbella model competition. (Contestants must be 16-25 years old, min. height 1.75m, max weight 55 kilos). To be in with a chance, simply send an email to nicola@omproductions.com to enter the competition.

30 pre-selected finalists will then attend an exciting Fashion Show by K2 at the luxurious internationally famous beach club, Nikki Beach on Friday 3 August where they will show their modelling skills in a fashion show of bikinis and evening gowns to a panel of expert VIP judges. Couture worn will include Roberto Cavalli, Love Sex Money and Philipp Plein – so models will certainly be in good company. The show begins at 7pm and Marbella’s cool crowd are invited to join the jury and vote for their favourite models. Book your place on the panel by calling 0034 952 836 239. The 10 finalists chosen will go on to perform in the Moda Marbella two-day extravaganza on 17-18th August.

The top 3 models will win an extraordinary series of prizes including a contract with Target models in London, model portfolio, clothes - and heaps of invaluable publicity in local and international media, so go on girls, take your chance to shine!

2nd Edition of Moda Marbella

Catwalk show

The Fashion & Music Festival will kick off on Friday 17 August in the evocative Old Town Marbella with a show of young, accessible fashion from a series of cool, trendy boutiques and labels. Expect a bevy of beautiful models to strut their stuff, showing off the new collections from fashion boutiques including Novita, Elle Morgan, Fashion Villa, Debbie Katz South Beach, Carmen Piedra and Blanc du Nil, along with an exciting blend of art and music from Crusher Jones, Clare Thomasa, Helena Pual, Flemenco by Soniquete and Funky Body - everything from rock to chill-out - to create a suitably dynamic mood. This is the night that the Top Model Moda Marbella will be chosen with the help of a panel of 7 judges from the worlds of fashion and the media. After-parties will be held at trendy Club Budha del Sol in the heart of Marbella and the new Icon hotspot at the Puente Romano Hotel on the Golden Mile, where all festival guests will be greeted with a welcome cocktail.

The mood will move up a gear on Saturday 18 August when the show will highlight all the stars in the fashion firmament with a dazzling catwalk show from a clutch of high-end labels and fashion designers. Among the brands and boutiques showing are K2, Fashion Villa and Carmen Piedra. The music options will satisfy sophisticated tastes with everything from soul, funk, Latin, flamenco, jazz and classical sounds. The slick show will be helped along with hair professionals from Halo and makeup by Dora Makeup.

The catwalk comes alive from 9.30pm and is open to the public. Expect to see some of Marbella's best-known faces and fashion cognoscenti in the front row... Continuing into the early hours, with a glamorous after-party held at an exclusive venue, the 2nd edition of Moda Marbella will no doubt build on the success of the launch event in Spring, and soon become a firm fixture in Marbella's whirlwind social calendar
