Support these Marbella fundraisers for the earthquake victims in Haiti

As hundreds of thousands of people have perished and many more struggle for survival in the aftermath of Haiti's devastating earthquake, funds are desperately needed to bring vital aid to the poverty stricken country.

 

With food and water scarce, aid is just beginning to get through from the US and various international charities including Medicos Sin Fronteras and the Red Cross. Many businesses and individuals in Marbella are holding events to help raise funds to contribute to the rescue of this tragic disaster area. 

Following are several fundraisers.  Please inform us of any further events and we will include in our calendar.

 

Saturday 6 February
El Campanario Golf & Country House, Diana Park

Enjoy an amazing musical medley with groups, singers and musicians all donating a performance in the beautiful clubhouse of El Campanario Golf & Country House. Acts include:

Quincy Sax, soul and R+B; Naira Castillejo, violin; Grace Ellington jazz ; Andres Martinez,soul, R + B , spanish music…James Richard, jazz, Jo Nugent, jazz + gospel, Sativa Spirit,Reggae, Steven Lloyd Morgan, musicals, Chas Burnett guitarist and the 3 Divos with their opera numbers.

The event will be free entrance, with donations requested. A buffet will be available at the clubhouse restaurant - and 50% of proceeds will be donated to help Haiti.

Friday 5 February
Estepona Golf Club, Estepona

Rory Leader the proprietor of Estepona Golf club is organizing the "Tournament for Haiti" with superb prizes for the longest drive, nearest the pin and 2 ball sweep.

The Director of Talk Radio Europe, Maurice Boland is organizing a gala dinner following the tournament - to help raise more funds for the Haiti emergency.

The Gala evening will take place after the tournament on Friday 5 February (venue to be announced). Comedian Stan Boardman and Kenny Lynch will be flying over to appear along with tenor Stephen Lloyd-Morgan and many other entertainers.

Tuesday 2 February
Dinner with Friends
Soliluna Restaurant, Marbella

Popular fashion designer, Patricia Nahmad continues her work in Marbella to support the worldwide charity Action Against Hunger. This time, the charity is appealing for urgent funds to send aid and urgent food supplies to the devastated Haiti.

On 2 February, Patricia has organized a fund-raising dinner at popular restaurant Sol i Luna, behind the mosque on Marbella's Golden Mile. At a cost of 45€ per person, 50% of the money will go directly to the Spanish arm of the international charity, and so will fund the desperate needs of the people of Haiti. Enjoy find food, music and solidarity for this urgent cause.

Friday 22 January 
Starz Café, Nueva Andalucía

Hans Moller, the owner of Starz café has pledged the following:
"On Friday 22nd January, we are going to give all proceeds of coffee and tea to help the people of HAITI. So come and have a cup or two, and please don't just tell your friends, bring them, invite them, or buy 10 cups and have only one, it's all up to you." 

On Monday I will put the money in the account of Medicos Sin Fronteras, and then scan the receipt and put it here on Facebook, so you can all see what we did together...in collaboration with Lavazza coffee.

The staff of STARZ are going to donate their "tips" or "propinas" to the people of HAITI, so come and eat,  and do something good. Let's help to help..." Starz Cafe can be found in the forefront of the Centro Plaza commercial centre in Nueva Andalucia, Marbella. 

Starz Café raised over 1200€.

 

Saturday  21 January 
Terra Sana,  Marbella Centre

Art not just for art's sake - but charity -with an exhibition inaugurating on Saturday 21 January.  Artist Tori Seyd is donating 10 % of proceeds of his colourful work in ceramic and textiles to the Haiti disaster fund.  The exhibition is being staged at the Terra Sana in the centre of Marbella at Antonio Belon, 1, close to the paseo marítimo.

Well-known photographer Gary Edwards is donating 25% of the proceeds of sales of his Collectables exhibition, currently exhibiting at Passion Café.  With framed  limited edition prints available from 50 euros, this is a great opportunity to give to yourself or to others a memorable gift, while helping Haiti. Thursday 28 January 
Chateau Mona Lisa Restaurant, Puerto Banus 

Popular restaurant and club hostess Charlotte Fisher is organizing a fundraiser for Haiti at her latest trendy venue - the Chateua Mona Lisa  restaurant in Puerto Banus. A minimum of half of the proceeds of the evening will go directly to 'Doctors Without Frontiers.' All help would be greatly appreciated at this terrible time of need for these people.

The event comprises a delicious 3 course dinner, including wine, with live music from Djs Nilo and Juan Patata - all for 50€ per person.  There will also be a raffle of great prizes to be won.
