Concordia Gala

Always one of the highlights of the social calendar in Marbella, royalty and celebrities were out in force to show solidarity for the AIDS charity CONCORDIA, championed by the tireless Princess Marie-Louise of Prussia.

Held at the spectacular beach club of the Marbella Club Hotel, over 380 high profile guests pledged their support for the annual event. Among them was a smattering of European royalty, including the Prince and Princess of Yugoslavia, Princess Bea von Auesperg, Countess Gunilla von Bismarck, music legend, Quincy Jones, Marbella Mayoress,Mº Angeles Muñoz, and Gary Kesler, organizer of AIDS charity gala the Life Ball in Vienna.

Contributing Forces

Overwhelmed by the generosity of sponsors and contributors including Lombard Odier bank,Tiffany & Co, and Sofitel- who offered a 10,000€ holiday in Cartagena de Indias among the amazing raffle prizes. Marie-Louise was also surprised with a cheque for 25,000€ kindly donated by Dr HC Manuela Schmidt of Paradis Hotels.


Thanks to Holland Flowers, and Alfombra Roja events, the venue was given a touch of the Orient, with Arabic music, rose petals and belly dancers. Many of the guests went along with the exotic Arabian nights theme with their extravagant attire. Singer Uwe Kroger - who performs in musicals in Germany, Austria and Switzerland flew in specially to sing at the event in Marbella. Even the wines and aperitivos were sponsored and an army of volunteers, including students from Les Roches catering school helped with the coordination of the gala - allowing more funds to reach the coffers of Concordia. An incredible 155,000€ was raised to help fund the two centres of AIDS patients in the Marbella area.
