Marbella International Art Festival 2010
The 2nd Festival Internacional de Arte Marbella (FIAM) did an excellent job of promoting talented artists from all over the world as a full weekend of culture and colour kicked off on June 17.
More than 100 artists of many different nationalities pitched up in Marbella’s Alameda Park and Avenida del Mar for the 2nd International Art Festival, showcasing their latest works in individual tents.
Once the artists had filled their tents with masterpieces, the stage was set and the trees in the park had been decorated with funky lights, the event began on Thursday evening with an exclusive VIP launch. Organisers Pixie Glore, Caroline Bowley, Eli Martin and a number of special guests enjoyed a glass of champagne and toasted to the town’s 2nd celebration of high calibre music and dance performances and of course, all things arty.
The FIAM team showed their gratitude towards Councillor of Tourism, José Luis Hernández and Oti Ga Diaz Ambrona of the Town Hall, whose support and collaboration helped to get the festival off ground.
Over the course of the weekend, an estimated 20,000 people attended the festival, including Princess Mª Louise of Prussia, a patron of many good causes and cultural endeavours.
Something for the weekend
From photographers, furniture makers, painters and sculptors, there was no shortage of creative talent at the festival. Inside each tent was something different, thought-provoking and eye-catching.
Artists of stage and sound, like Welsh tenor Strephen Lloyd Morgan and jazz/rock band OdeanDreams, wooed the crowds every afternoon, with lively music and dancing continuing well into the evening while kids enjoyed getting creative in the special workshop area.
Become a friend
The organisers of FIAM aim to make the festival an annual cultural event but in order to do this, they need the help of the local business community. Already, friends and sponsors of the festival include Marbellas.com, Elle Morgan fashion, FNAC, Talk Radio Europe and Rose & Clavel among many others.
Anyone can become a friend of FIAM. By simply making a small donation, not only will you be entered into a prize draw with the chance to win amazing works of art, you’ll also benefit from the scheme by appearing on the printed and online publicity for the next festival.
