Obamamania morphs into Marbellamania…

Marbellas Blog No Comments

A month has passed since Mrs. Michelle Obama left the luxurious Villa Padierna Hotel Marbella to fly off to Mallorca to meet King Juan Carlos and other members of the Spanish Royal family.

Four little days the First Lady stayed on the Costa del Sol, but the impact of her visit is infinite. Like a modern day Midas, Mrs. Obama has turned to gold everything her gracious presence touched, from the cobbled streets and quaint shops of Marbella, to the magnificent Alhambra to the splendour of her luxurious hotel and the drama and intrigue of Ronda’s historic sites, just by being there, America’s First Lady, arguably the most powerful woman in the world, has given the Costa del Sol a new lustre, a bright shiny new glow of approval from the highest quarters….

Guestimates suggest that the enormous publicity gleaned from such a high profile visitation convert to sums in the region of 8,000 million euros. With in excess of a million articles registered in Google relating to Obama in Marbella, it is true to say that money couldn’t buy such a campaign, which has sky rocketed the name of Marbella around the world and back in the best possible array of media.
Officials in Marbella, Andalucia and Spain all agree that this is akin to winning the PR lottery – and the area is now well and truly back on the worldwide map of quality tourist destinations with a new wave of hotel and conference bookings to prove the point.
Some unofficial reports suggest that while Mrs Obama was reputedly sightseeing in one place or another, it was actually “a double”, and the real wife of the America’s President Obama was visiting world leaders also in residence in the area, British Prime Minister David Cameron, who was staying near Ronda and the Prince of Saudi Arabia, who was spending time in his own White House copy on Marbella’s Golden Mile….
Whatever her agenda, personal or official, Mrs. Obama certainly charmed all who came in contact with her, and it seems, the feeling was mutual.
