Marbella Gears Up for First Ever ‘Classics on Wheels’ Event

Classic car lovers will be in their element this summer as Marbella sees the first ever ‘Classics on Wheels’ event roll into town. Hosted and organised by the American Classic Car Owners Club, Costa del Sol, this celebration of American vintage motors and their enthusiasts is expected to attract over 4,000 visitors.

A Classic Day Out
On 27 June, Nueva Andalucía’s Central Plaza will be awash with over 150 classic cars and their owners, all battling it out to win awards for the best preserved cars. In association with Marbella Town Hall and 6 other classic car clubs in the region, the event will start at 10am, when visitors can get in gear with a delicious, energy-boosting breakfast, accompanied by music from one of Marbella’s top DJs.

At noon, a spectacular ‘Downtown Sunday Cruise’, escorted by the local police, will give everyone the chance to enjoy the vintage and veteran rarities of all makes and models at first hand, whilst traders and vendors dazzle the crowds with their unique retro accessories and merchandise.

Wheel Good Fun
The American theme is set to continue throughout the day with live music from Rockabilly band, The Sun Rockets, and period outfitted characters, providing some excellent photo opportunities for those looking to capture all the glamour of the past. Popular local café, Yanx will be providing tasty USA-style BBQ treats and ice-cold and shortly afterwards, the judges will reveal the winners of the ‘Concour’s d’Elegance’, when prizes will be given for cars in categories such as ‘Best British Classic’, ‘Best US Classic’ and ‘Best Restored to Original’. There will be a final prize-giving ceremony for the overall ‘Best Car of the Show’ later in the evening.

There is a subscription fee for the ‘Classics on Wheels’ event of just €35 per car (including driver) and only €15 per passenger.

Join the Club
The American Classic Car Owners Club, Costa del Sol, was formed in 2009 and promotes the restoration and preservation of classic cars in Spain. Members can attend regular car shows as well as partake in social activities such as cruises and parades. To join, you must own any model of American classic car over 20 years of age and most importantly, be passionate!
