Barak Obama family in Marbella, Costa del Sol, Andalucia, Spain

It has been rumoured recently that the 44th President of the United States of America, Barak Obama will be holidaying in Marbella on the Costa del Sol with his family in August 2010. It now seems that Michelle, the Presidents wife, and Sasha their younger daughter are the only two of the family to stay at the Villa Padierna .

America’s First Lady and her daughter, nine year old Sasha, will spend four days at the Villa Padierna Hotel in Estepona near Marbella. The hotel owned by the Ritz Carlton group has a reputation as the best hotel in Spain. The press have quoted that Michelle and Sasha have at total of 32 rooms booked at the Hotel for their entourage… a nice quite long weekend away. Official statements read “The First Lady will travel to Spain for a private, mother-daughter trip with longtime family friends. President Obama will not be joining this trip”.

President Barack Obama will not be joining his wife for the trip, nor would the couple’s elder daughter Malia, 12, as she is booked into an American summer camp. Rumours started flying last week that there was preparation for a birthday cake for the American President whose birthday is 4th August, the day which his wife is due to arrive on the coast. It seems however he will be apart from his wife and daughters on that date, his 49th birthday..

Spanish media reported the Spanish trip would take place between August 4 to 8 and that the King and Queen of Spain had invited Mrs Obama to visit them at their summer palace in Mallorca. The Villa Padierna, golf and spa resort with a private beach set along the coast from Marbella, regularly plays host to Sheiks from the Gulf States, most recently Prince Faisal, the son of the king of Saudi Arabia.

Apparently prices start at 250 euros for a standard double, rising to between over 2,000 and 5000 euros for a private villa within the gardens, giving the 4 day stay a factura expected well into the 6 figure sum…

One wonders how much peace the mother and daughter will considering the reputation of the Spanish press. Perhaps the other 30 rooms are for body guards.
