It doesn't take much to persuade a keen golfer out on to the course... as Fischer-Mercedes have discovered to their advantage. Taking a proactive approach to looking after their customers, and meeting new ones, Fischer-Mercedes, Marbella's friendly Mercedes dealer with no less than 3 showrooms on the Coast, is creating a buzz around its monthly golfing fixtures with an average of 80 players per tournament.

A Grand Finale
The current 2007 – 2008 season started out in Almenara Golf Resort on the 3 June 2007. The schedule takes in 12 monthly tournaments, with the final being held at the renowned La Zagaleta Golf & Country Club! Players are required to qualify in order to secure their participation in the final!

Qualification can be achieved through participation in at least 3 of the 11 preliminary tournaments or by playing your way into the top 5 rankings within the Order of Merit. Points are distributed to the top 8 players of each tournament, the system being used similar to the Formula 1 points distribution format with the exception that the players receive 1000 points for 1st place, 800 for 2nd, 600 for 3rd and so on until the 8th place receives 100 points.

The tournaments are open to professional golfers as well as amateurs. The maximum number of professional players per tournament permitted is 20. With approx. 60 amateurs participating, the total number of players easily reaches 80.

Categories which are being played out are:
1.) Individual stableford
2.) Pairs, better ball stableford
3.) Professional Individual Gross
4.) Amateur Individual Gross
5.) Nearest to the pin
6.) Longest drive
7) Hole in One to win a new Mercedes SLK

The standard format for each tournament is a shot gun start at 9.30 am! A Players are provided with a hearty snack to enjoy during their round, while drinks and canapés are served prior to the prize giving ceremony. And all of these services are included in the registration fee of 100,00€ / tournament!

So far, the golf courses played in the current series include some of hte finest on the Costa del Golf : Almenara Golf Resort, Santana Golf & Country Club, La Reserva Golf Club, Santa Clara Golf Club, Los Flamingos Golf, San Roque New Course and La Zagaleta Golf & Country Club.

The next tournament, reaching halfway point, will take place on 11 November at the Almenara.

A Successful Forum
The series is proving to be a ‘must do date’ on a monthly basis. The organizers endeavour to provide a forum for all players, local and international, within which business and social contacts can be exchanged, opportunities can be developed, and it is proving ever more popular!

The planning and scheduling of the FISCHER OPEN GOLF SERIES 2008 – 2009 is running parallel to the actual series. Once preparations are complete, the organizers will publish the details to the golfing community throughout Europe.

Recent Tournament
With a selection of superb examples of Mercedes Cars carefully placed, the San Roque New Course was the most recent venue for the Fischer Series and attracted 70 players on a rain threatened Saturday morning. marbellas.com director, Gary Edwards played with golf professional, Jose Carlos Villa Especia and although their first few holes were good the final score was no match for Pro Rod Bastard and his team player Steve Parkes who came through to win the day - Even with a ball in the water and a few missed putts, Rod managed a very good gross score of 72.

Prizes of Lead Crystal Decanters, a Mercedes for the weekend, golf bags and golf shirts were won, but no one managed the hole in one prize of the Mercedes SLK.
